La NFL reaccionó luego de la muerte del legendario entrenador en jefe de los Miami Dolphins, Don Shula, a los 90 años de edad.
A través de un comunicado, el comisionado Roger Goodell, lamentó el fallecimiento de Shula y destacó el gran impacto que tuvo el coach en el deporte.
"Don Shula siempre será recordado como uno de los más grandes entrenadores y contribuyentes en la historia de nuestro juego", declaró Goodell en el comunicado. "Tuvo un impacto extraordinariamente positivo en tantas vidas. El entrenador en jefe más ganador en la historia de la NFL y el único en llegar a un equipo a una temporada perfecta, el coach Shula vivió una vida de fútbol americano incomparable. Como jugador, entrenador en jefe del Salón de la Fama y miembro y copresidente del comité de competencia de la NFL, fue un maestro y mentor notable que por décadas inspiró excelencia y ejemplificó la integridad.
"Su icónico legado perdurará a través de su familia y continuará inspirando a las generaciones por venir. Extendemos nuestras sinceras condolencias a la esposa de Don, Mary Anne, junto a sus hijos Dave, Donna, Sharon y Mike, la familia Shula y la organización de los Dolphins".
